As per the guidelines of Savitribai Phule Pune University to celebrate VACHAN PRERANA DIWAS, we

at PIMSE organized a “Book Review Competition” in the memory of the birth anniversary of Late Dr. A.

P. J. Abdul Kalam on 18 th October 2021 at Library, PIMSE. There is an old saying, “The pen is mightier

than the sword”. For implementing this theme we should inculcate the habit of reading and research so as

to develop innovative ideas and bring this into practice. Reading is important because it develops the

mind, discover new things, and it helps to improve the imagination process. It also develops the creative

side of people and also develops a good self-image. The event started with speech of our Incharge

Director Dr.Porinita Banerjee who briefed us about the importance of reading and then followed by the

guidance session of the Chief guest Mrs. Sanober Bashir Kazi, Librarian Law College Hadapsar. Further

there were students presenting on the review of their favorite book. There were 7 students who presented

their review from all courses. After their performance the chief guest announced the winners of the event.

They were as follows : Amanda D’mello, Nurain Shaikh and Sunil Kamble. The event was successfully

organized under the guidance of Incharge Director, Dr. Porinita Banerjee, Dr. Mubarak Tamboli

(Librarian) faculty members Dr. Sheena Abraham, Dr. Payal Samdariya, Mr. Talha Ahmad, Mrs. Lubna

Shaikh.
