Poona Institute of Management Sciences and Entrepreneurship hosted a session today featuring Dr. Sachin Surve, Coordinator of the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). Dr. Surve addressed the faculty members about the significant changes brought about by the National Education Policy (NEP) and their impact on higher education.
Dr. Surve emphasized that the NEP requires a shift in teaching methodologies. With vast information readily available to students through digital platforms, he highlighted the need for educators to focus on adding value in the classroom. Teachers are now expected to move beyond traditional lectures and engage students through interactive and participatory teaching methods.
He discussed how educators can enhance their teaching approach by incorporating critical thinking, problem-solving skills and real-world applications into their lessons. By adapting to these changes, teachers can better support student learning and development ensuring that their role remains pivotal despite the abundance of information accessible outside the classroom.
